Round 1: I went onto collegeboard.org and looked at the different colleges in those states...I ended up with 32 colleges total...
Utah: 5
Nevada: 6
California: 6
Oregon: 6
Mass.: 2
NY: 3
Maine: 4
Round 2: To narrow it down I decided to look at locations and think "Does it look nice? The kind of place I would like?" and thanks to Google Maps, I narrowed it down to 19...
UT: 4
NV: 2
CA: 3
OR: 3
MA: 2
NY: 3
ME: 2
Round 3: I looked at each one, considered cost's, location, and do I see myself here? I narrowed it down to 13...
UT: 4
NV: 2
CA: 2
OR: 1
MA: 1
NY: 2
ME: 1
Round 4: I made a list of possible Majors, and classes I wanted to take. I went online to each of the 13 school's websites and looked at their class list (which was like going on a treasure hunt!). I ended up with 11... (such and improvement I know)
UT: 4 (3 Y, 1 M)
NV: 2 (2 M)
CA: 1 (1 M)
OR: 1 (1 Y)
MA: 0
NY: 1 (1 M/Y)
ME: 1 (1 M)
(Y=Yes; M=Maybe)
Round 5: I took my remaining list and narrowed it down to colleges that I REALLY want to go to and then their scholarship options. These are my finales:
-Southern Utah University (SUU)
-Dixie State College (DSC)
-University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV)
-San Diego State University (SDSU)
-Eastern Oregon University (EOU) (free app. fee, YAY!)
I'm also considering applying to University of Nevada Reno (UNR) but I'm not sure about that. It's a maybe still.
So now I just have to report the finale's to my father, and show him all the research I've done to finally pick these colleges! I feel good about my choices because I have a Nevada school (maybe two), I have out of state schools, I feel like (with better SAT/ACT scores) I can get good scholarships and be accepted. Now just time to fill out the applications! :)
With Love,
Chelsea Marie :)
